I

Snapshot 10

The storm was coming, that was all I knew.  It was all over the news the night before.  It was really a “wait and see” kind of game.  I prepared myself with all of the necessary information, wherever I was looking.  I placed a sticky note right near my alarm clock.  I placed a sticky note right on my planner, on the correct day of the week.  I even placed one in the bathroom counter.  Any  way I went, whatever I did, I saw the sticky note that informed me to “Check the weather,” before I got ready for work.

My alarm clock went off, 5:30 am.  I was awake and I was quickly reminded of the weather situation, thanks to my nifty sticky notes.  I flipped on the news and quickly learned what was going on.  As the weather forecaster declared, “…it was quite the snow band that went over our region last night,” I frantically watched the bottom of the screen to see if our school was cancelled or delayed.  I kept watching, with of course a pen and sticky note in hand, waiting for the moment of certainty for my day that was ahead of me.

Finally, 5:47 am:  “Georgetown-CLOSED” ran across the screen.  A rush of relief filled my body and stress on my mind was cleared in an instant.  I had to make note of this news, in writing.  My handy sticky notes were quickly pulled out. First sticky note for my planner: SCHOOL is CLOSED.  Second sticky note for my night stand:  SCHOOL is CLOSED.  Last sticky note for the bathroom:  SCHOOL is CLOSED.  All was taken care of on the snowy morning….as I slipped back into my bed.
